Fred -
I found those identical lights about a month ago. They're also at
Wal Mart for $ 50. I've already installed them on both of my main gear
struts, so that they serve as taxi and landing lights with the gear down.
They're the neatest landing lights you've ever seen.
Installing them on the main gear struts is a much simpler
installation than in the wingtip. I mounted them using the bracket furnished
with the lights. They can be attached to the outside of the gear strut,
using the upper bolt for the rubber "doughnut". They just do clear the outer
gear door during extension and retract. It's a very easy installation.
Also, you don't need the relay furnished. Just use two toggle
switches on your panel, fed from a 15 amp breaker. The lights are 55W
Halogen. They require about 4 amps each.
