If I mis-state anything I am sure my fellow list member will correct me. Maybe you are in the same situation as I was. I bought an unfinished LNC 360 kit originally sold in 1991. In the manual that came with it there is NO MENTION of safety wiring the spar bolts!! I contacted lancair and they sent me a manual update that showed the correct way. Actually, the change was more significant than just the safety wiring. The new manual shows two added flat head bolts that tie the metal plates in the spar to the kevlar spar material. These are needed to distribute the bolt load to the spar itself. Without them, under high G loads, the spar might just slpit down its length like a piece of pine. And that would ruin your whole day. The added bolts also provide the place to tie the safety wire to. Adding the bolts is not too hard, but you will need a right angle drill head and a short drill bit. Soooo, if you have an old LNC2 and you cant find a place to wire the spar bolt heads, your plane may need a bit more work than you thought. Contact lancair for the manual update. Cheers, Jeff N273CK, still building. ----------- >>How did you saftey wire your main spar bolts? thanks larry >Which airplane?
