Yet it seems like ancient history. What am I talking about?? 10 years ago today our Lancair IV- P --Dairy Queen-- FLEW for the first time. And-- 13 years and five days ago Pan Am closed the doors. Now that was a Christmas! No job-no income-no medical benefits--- scary. The Lancair kit had been delivered just days earlier. And a huge financial commitment. Then, After a trip to Oregon to learn how to build (an ES) and on the way home--hurricane Andrew paid a visit to Miami. It changed our life direction again, less than a year later. It was rebuilding, selling the house, packing up, putting in storage, moving to Oregon, adjusting to a new climate, new church, new friends, and most of all away from family, church and friends of many years. So three years and one hurricane later, Our Lancair flew. In Oregon. During these 10 years since then, it has flown approximately 1900 hrs. That would be approximately 190 hours a year--or 15 hours a month--or approximately 30 minutes a day. Every day. It's birthday present?? She's going in for a new interior after the first of the year. Wishing Dairy Queen a HAPPY BIRTHDAY and Y'all a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR [Happy b'day to DQ from me as well. Give her a pat on the tail for me . Have a great holiday season! ]
