These are the pictures of my cowling in the "current" configuration.  The MP went up less than an inch due to the forward facing servo versus updraft.

I guess the old air box was more efficient than I had thought before spending all that money and time.  Having read a lot about pressure versus velocity since then, I guess that makes sense.  The updraft air box was a fairly well shaped diffuser and should have done a good job of slowing the inlet air, thus converting the high velocity flow into high pressure, and pressure at the servo inlet is what you want.
