One of the two prior kit owners of my 360 originally installed floating nutplates for the cowl fasteners (I have carbhinge for the sides).  Given how long the cowling is, floating nutplates can allow a wide range of positions for the cowl.  I had many problems with the cowl rubbing on the engine (mine is quited tightly cowled) until I replaced all the floating nutplates with fixed.  The rubbing has never resurfaced.  I am now on a mission to replace all floating nutplates on my 360 with fixed.
