Someone had asked the question about LAHSO's a while back. Each
airport which conducts LAHSO, has a specific landing distance minimum listed
for a specific airplane type, and is then put in a sub category for that
group. The LOA will vary drastically between airports, and what is
authorized. The only specific airplanes not authorized for
LAHSO are solo student pilots, however if your Lancair is not specified
the the LOA for those ops at that airport, then you will not be able to
participate, has nothing to do with the fact that it is an experimental.
If you are operating at such an airport and want to participate, then I would
suggest you contact the tower and get your airplane on the list.
They will require landing distance minimums for your airplane, and
speeds. There is a team of controllers set up to write the LOA, so it's
up to that team to approve the different airplanes. It is totally
their discretion to not allow any experimental airplanes, or any other types
for that matter.

Ron,
Verrrrry Interrrrrresting......
At my towered home airport (KARR) I always call "Lancair 92EX" when
contacting ATC. I have occasionally been requested to LAHS and I have
always been able to do so. We have several "experimentals" at the airport
including a P-51, P-40, B25, Velocity, Cozy, Vari-eze, a few RVs, a
Glasair, an E-Racer, Mig-21, YAK, Pitts, etc.... Some use the
"experimental" lead in, others use the Model (like Lancair). Newbie
controllers have replied with "Lance 2EX, Experimental 2EX, Uh,
Say Again," but all of them have stumbled over the tongue twister " Two Echo
Xray." Try it.
I have never been corrected for not saying "experimental." Besides
that, they know that after I announce my lawn dart as "incoming" at 10 NM, it
won't be long before they hear my "Lancair 2EX 2 miles out" and they better have
cleared the way - once I was even asked to do a 360 for a Falcon Jet on final -
I replied, "WILCO on the right 360. Can he keep his speed up so I don't have to
do a second one? 2EX" I think I heard some sputtering from the tower mike.
