Yarrawonga Lancair Syndicate? What a cool name! Can I join? You guys have
T-shirts? If so, I MUST have one.

Seriously though, the GPS antenna works just fine when placed about 20-30 cm
forward of the horizontal stabilizers leading edge. What I did on one airplane was
to eliminate the large flexible hose for the tail vent and extend the duct all the
way back to the H- stab. The U shaped duct transitions into a flat plate as it
moves aft. By mounting the GPS antenna to a flat aluminum plate, cutting a hole in
the floor of the duct and installing nut plates in the duct, you can install the
GPS antenna from inside the tail cone. Simple and clean. Worked well too.
