Scott [Seems to me I saw a schematic recently (maybe in Kitplanes) for a multi- channel vocal annunciator that uses the sound recording chips that have recently come available. The circuit I saw used a hierarchical architecture which would make the most important announcement in the case of multiple failures. Personally I find the idea of audio warnings interesting, but I don't think I'd want them to totally replace a visual warning completely... once the announcement was made it could be forgotten about unless there was a facility incorporated to repeat the alarm at some preset interval for the duration of the event. This could also get a bit tedious (dangerous even) if the warnings start stepping on critical communications during conversations with center or the tower. Teaming an audio warning with a visual one that doesn't go away makes a lot of sense to me, though, and I think it could be done relatively easily. Visual warnings don't have to take up lots of room... replacing large incandescent annunciators with LEDs cuts down on both the real estate and overall current draw at the same time. Just my opinions, of course. ] >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML homepage: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html
