The old plans referred to a 10 deg opening ?? Pine Pienaar pine@cpro.co.za Lancair 360 #664 [The operation of the outboard gear door is governed by the geometry of its attachment to the main gear strut... in other words, it is simply along for the ride and it seems to me that its angular relation to vertical is determined solely by the action of the gear. I would say that what you should be shooting for is unobstructed motion throughout its arc of travel and be willing to live with whatever angle it winds up at when the gear is down and locked. The important considerations here are that the gear is perfectly vertical when extended and that the wheel doesn't push against the top skin when retracted. With those conditions met all you can do is rig the door so it is seated properly with the gear up and accept the angle it makes to the aircraft when the gear is extended. You can fiddle that angle a bit by adjusting the position of the gear in the well, but as you have probably seen by now, there is little room for adjustment of the gear's retracted position. Relocating the position of the gear door pushrod will change its angle but there aren't many options for where to locate bolt which attaches it to the gear leg. This is just my opinion on this matter... other folks may have a different viewpoint. ] >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML homepage: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html
