Since Mr. Crowe started some dialogue on the subject, I thought this would
be a good time to pose a question that has been in the back of my mind as I
near completion of my MKII tail.  I "pre-balanced" my elevators with formed
lead weights prior to close-out (made fitted weights from molds and molten
lead).  As the manual states, each elevator half should be balanced
individually.  Question: When balancing each elevator half, does one do so
with the associated control arm "half" bolted in place on the elevator.  I
would think so, as this mass also pivots around the "hinge line" and must be
offset by counterbalance weight.  I'd be grateful for any input from the
seasoned builders out there.
