After a lot of head-scratching by all the local gurus about what to do with the hydro system, I finally decided to try the KISS method. I obtained a small sheet of 1/4" thick High density polyethylene (pretty sure it was HDPE, anyway, but other types would certainly work, e.g., Teflon, etc.) and, after figuring out where things rubbed, attached the plastic to the inside of the door as a rub plate. The edges are beveled in order not to create anything for the gear to snag on. Quarter inch thick is overkill since the stuff just doesn't wear but it allowed for counterboring for the attaching hardware so they wouldn't become new rub points. The HDPE is slippery as snot on a doorknob and if the gear is still hitting it, I can't tell. Don't remember where I got the stuff but should be available from a plastics supplier. One person's solution. Hope it helps. Dan Schaefer
