LML:
I'm really happy I'm at the Kern County CFTC in
Mojave. Today the L-1011 of Orbital started engines and taxiid away for
pilot training and each touch and go was visible and loud in our hangar.
Sino Swerengen finished setting up a telemetry trailer in the vacant dirt
next to our (huge) hangar. I asked a fellow 'whaasup' and he said the
SW-30 is arriving for flight test. Natch, they come from
San Antiono for the food and atmosphere (Ha-ha) that we are so (un)thrilled
about. Thank gawd I live in Tehachapi.
It is big fun to watch outside from
work and go to the coffee shop for lunch. One never knows who will be
there. Burt and I are both Northrop grads. Nice coattail to hang on,
huh?
Not much can be learned about Scaled. At
least not at my level. Perhaps I don't pry enough... Their press
announcements are pretty special. I'm really glad I
work here. I get a pass just for working on the
field.
Scaled will do well and win the X prize. It has
been obvious for some time they have the special people and the technology
despite the recent loss of two of their very important leaders to the sport
we all love most.
If you can be in the neighborhood do come here
for the event. Mojave will be closed to traffic but Cal City, Tehachapi
and Rosemond are close. Gen Fox Field and Lancaster also have
rental cars and are not much farther away. Bakersfield would be fine
as a last choice due to driving distance. At least one can eat there and
find a very soft pillow.
I'll show you my IV-P too. Boy, is that
special? It is still for sale.
Thanks,
Walter Dodson, N990Y IV-P 40
