Phone call from NTSB
When I got home tonight there was a message on my machine from some guy at the NTSB. There was a fatal crash of a Lancair near Memphis on Friday. Evidently, the plane entered an area where there were some cells and then disappeared off the radar. The reason they called me is because I was in that area (the general area, not the area with the cells) during the time of the crash and they wanted some information for the investigation.
Also, they were doing a study to compare the differences between aircraft, equipement, pilots' experience, etc from accident planes vs. non-accident planes in areas of weather accidents. I was on the phone with the person for about 45 minutes.
Pretty interesting stuff.
