Yo Robert,

The easiest, least expensive and fastest (although probably least elegant)
way to put on nav lights is to use the all-in-one units that have wing
lights (red-green) tail light (white) and strobe all in one unit.

I have the standard GE landing light bulb installed in the PVC pipe in the
cowling. In addition, I mounted Tim Ong's lights on my gear legs. I've made
many night landings using only the GE or only the Ong's. Both are perfectly
satisfactory. With all three lit up, it looks like a DC10 landing. For a
retrofit, I'd go with Tim's gear leg lights for ease of installation.
