I am told that exactly the same thing (old dog, new trick) was said by the
old time ATPs when it was suggested that this device would have QWERTY keyboard.
Apparently there was enough dissatisfaction expressed by the "senior" pilots
in the early customer surveys, that the specifications called for the FMS
style keyboard. I too find the FMS style keyboard a pain to use, but after
a bit of practice it is becoming easier.
