I have spent considerable time looking for a fixture for the MR16 light that
would work on the gear of my airplane and have found nothing that really
does the job right at a price I was willing to pay.
I commissioned to have a few made and they are exactly what is needed for my
application.

They have a screw on face that allows you to put an MR 16 style light and a
1/8" piece of glass or lexan with a 2" o ring seal. I made a seal out of the
orange rubber material used to seal the baffeling as you can see in the
pictures. I have the 65 watt lights and they do not get the glass hot to the
touch therefore you could use plexi or Lexan with that wattage.

I made a preliminary bracket pattern out of cardboard. I figured out the
proper bends and transferred it to a piece of .090 aluminum.
I then super glued a piece of the orange 1/8 " baffling seal material to the
curved part that mates to the gear leg and attached the thing with a hose
clamp sandwiching the rubber like material between. You could easily make a
bracket to mount these in a cowl or in the leading edge of a wing.

These are cut from a solid piece of aluminum by hand on a lathe and they are
beautifully crafted and are very light. Only 2 ounces each!

I have a machinist friend that likes doing this kind of work and as you can
see they are little works of art.

These can be had for $39 each (fixture only) which is steal considering the
time it take to make them.

This will most likely not be an ongoing thing soo...
if you are interested in these let me know off line soon and
I will put you on the list of people who want them.

Thanks!
