If your application is using the in the wing type, then the heat will dissapate during flight, however when taxiing, I reccomend a small air blower to circulate the air. For those who are mounting their MR16's on the gear leg, you may want to look at this site: http://www.gilway.com/pdf/appl-illuminators.pdf I haven't seen this holder, but it has a glass cover and will accept any MR16 bulb.
