You are right, but there are two issues. One is that, if the light is
mounted on a gear leg, it should not be allowed to remain lighted when the gear
is raised. To that end, I use the "gear down and locked indicator relay"
to allow the light to be switched on.
The other, the cover, will be tested soon. Currently, I use Lexan
which soon becomes bubbled and clouded. I have recently removed the
siliconed-in glass cover from a 50 watt halogen bulb by breaking away the
reflector's retaining edge with pliers. This fits my current bulb holder
but I will soon be testing one of Tim Ong's housing - a test of both the cover
and Marshal's special bulb.
