For Noel Motta:
I did locate the data comparing operating costs
between the LIV-P and the LIV-PJ and it was from Lancair last year.
Since my scanner just died, I will include only a short synopsis.
The comparison was based on an 800 NM flight at both 18,000' and at
24,000' and included fuel/engine/ and airframe costs(i.e., overhaul
cost/hr, oil cost/hr, tires and brakes) .
At 18,000' the turbine averaged 266.7 kts while
the IV-P averaged 250.5 kts. The direct expense for the trip was $ 253.84
for the turbine and $ 238.57 for the IV-P.
At 24,000', the speed for the turbine
was 322.0 kts while the speed for the IV-P was 280.7 kts. The
trip cost for the IV-P was $ 243.33 while the turbine was $ 246.37.
As you can see, fast is fun and higher is
better....HOWEVER I would certainly take these figures with a very large grain
of salt.
If you would like a copy of the data, just send
me your address. Regards, Bill Hogarty
