Thanks to those that have responded so quickly - it looks as though this
has been a worthwhile project.
I won't be able to talk to the manufacturer till after easter to get
precise answers to some of your questions, but I can advise:-
1. The size of the assembly is no larger (in diameter) than the doughnut
system and is the same length. It is designed to be a bolt in
replacement that can be fitted in minutes rather than hours.
2. The "production" models will include provision for a small amount of
adjustment in length, although I anticipate that with your order you
will be asked for the length of your existing assemblies centre to
centre from the holes through the mounting lugs and they will be
delivered to that specification.
3. The "stiffness" of the springs and the preload of them is affected by
the all up weight of the A/C. Thus the 360's will be stiffer than the
320's than the 235. The springs will be designed to "just move" off the
stops when the A/C is at all up weight sitting stationary on the ground.
This will allow for the maximum travel (about two inches at the wheels).
4. The weight of the assemblies will be about a # or two more than the
doughnut system. I can't be precise at this point because my prototype
models were machined from steel whereas the production ones will be
CNC'd out of aluminium. Due to the location, the extra weght (such that
it is) will have minimal effect on the C of G.
Cheers
