The fuel control and pump were driven by the torsion shaft. Not a very good idea for something turning a prop. Afer a handful of fuel system failures like the one described, the diaphram was redesigned to use the main shaft instead. The 840's were manufactured after the problem was found and are already the new design. I think most of the -251, 252's came out with the newer design also. I would be very aware of this issue if I were to purchase a pre-century or century series 1 or 2.
