[Marv -  If you feel this is correct and has merit, could you post it for
comment?]

To all for comment -
For several years, I have advocated that the nose gear overcenter link
should be attached to the gear strut by a male threaded rod end bearing,
same as the main gear. The primary benefit of rod end bearing attachment
would be to allow for the inevitable builder misalignment of the nose gear
overcenter link, thus eliminating binding and overstress in the link and
attach points, as well as improving nose gear free fall in the event that
binding is present.
The attachment tabs currently on the nose gear strut will accept the same
rod end bearing as the main gear oc link. The lower (attachment) portion of
the nose gear oc link could easily be redesigned and internally threaded to
accept the male threads of the rod end bearing, same as the main gear. Since
the nose gear oc link transmits ONLY AXIAL FORCES (same as the main gear oc
link) a rod end bearing should be an acceptable design. The redesign and
retrofit would be simple, however, I don't have access to a machine shop.
The redesign and approval would have to come from Lancair.

[Bill... if you look back in the archives you'd find that this has been
discussed several times in the past and that Myron Oakley will be producing
both nose and main gear overcenter links out of steel, and the nose gear
links will incorporate the facility for a rod end bearing at the nose gear
strut attach point.  Don't bother him about it right now, though, as when
he has the time to produce these and he is setting up for the 'run' he will
let us know so all interested parties can place their orders.  No prices
have been established yet, but we will all know about it when the time
comes.
