No, that part works fine, the EAU comes on
immediately. I just got the impression
from Brent that the CFS IDU’s don’t
need to be behind an AV Master (due to their meeting DO160), but that’s not
what I was told when I bought them by LA and the rep at CFS I spoke with. I’d love to get rid of the AV master,
as I don’t like its added failure modes (though the convenience is nice),
but I didn’t think it was an option.

Shannon, your Engine Airdata Computer should power on immediately with
your battery master. And you should be able to monitor your engine
"while cranking" and have indications such as oil pressure
immediately. If this isn't the case, it is improperly wired and you need
to contact Lancair.
