During the last annual (November), I had the vernatherm replaced and this did nothing. My oil cooler setup looks like most others I have seen, with the cooling "hole" on the back of the baffling on the pilot's side, going through the orange tubing to the shroud on the cooler which is mounted on the firewall. I have some "shark vents" on that side of the cowl presumably to let this cooling air flow as it should. My question is this: I have heard of some people on the list switching from a 7 vane to a 13 vane cooler and this solved their problem. Do you think it would be best for me to try this first? Or should I go ahead and put a dedicated naca vent on the bottom of the cowl and dedicate a cooling hose to the cooler? Or will this potentially cool too much? I really don't want to do this, because I'll have to cut up the cowl and repaint, etc. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Steve,
More info is needed. Where are you? Is the cooler a Stewart-Warner? Have you measured air pressure drop across cooler?
