I suggest using the small MR11 bulbs (max 35 watt narrow beam). They don't put out much heat and the outside temp is so low (32F or less) the lens will not overheat. The MR11 is very small (1 3/8 dia) and can be mounted behind a plexiglass like material which is hysol'd to the fuselage skin much like the cabin windows. The cutout in the cabin wall can be as small as the dia of the lamp. If there is core in this area, then decore and close out with several layers of fiberglass about 5" in dia. Mount the reflector such that it does not touch the plexiglass.
