Sajid:
Sorry for delay answering your post but have moved my home from Tracy, CA to Livermore, CA. A distance only 50 km but much time and effort. No computer connection yet so I am borrowing my sons computer at his office.
To answer your question - I am very pleased with my elevator control at all speeds up to 240 kts IAS. HOWEVER, realize that I use very little elevator at high airspeeds. The L-IV is only stressed for 4.4 G's and, in my test program, I have only increased the G-loading in small increments up to 3.3 G's, thus far.
How much does your aircraft weigh and where is the C.G.? Is your problem static or does it change with weight? Does it change with C.G? Airspeed? Are your elevators balanced?
I would be very careful with this problem and I would explore the change in elevator authority in very small steps until you find the parameter that is causing the problem.
BTW, I do have a problem with stiff ailerons at cruise speeds. I think that the problem is that the leading edge of the ailerons is slightly fatter than the trailing edge of the wing. Dont know exactly why this happened. My wings are not the fast build variety and were built in 1992-1993. I am hoping that by using Gap Tape between the wing and the aileron, the problem will be reduced.
Regards, Bill Hogarty
P.S. Perhaps someone on the Lancairlist with a broader background in aerodynamics could shed some light on this problem.
