In the early '60s NASA sought a solution to rocket gantry wiring getting
burned up on every launch or dud. "Rocket Tape" was devised by 3M and
copied by many others. This stuff is aluminum foil over fiberglass tape
with silicone adhesive. Another name (and common use) for the stuff is
"Plasma Flame Spray Masking Tape".  It is available in 18" widths or slit
smaller from Fralock (818) 709-1288 as Fluorglas 2925-7 (or 3M #363, Mystik
#7455, Permacel #P-100, DeWal #409, T&F #6005). This should be a common
material in every homebuilt for it many uses--sound deadening, fire
proofing, heat reflecting, wire-harness bundling in hot areas, wrapping
flexible plastic fuel lines, Halloween spaceman costumes, etc.
