Subject: Must Sell IVP

Two weeks after the first flight (February 2003), I was diagnosed with lung cancer (never smoked a day in my life).  Since then, I had unsuccessful surgery in New Orleans and aggressive Chemotherapy and Radiation Treatments at Duke Cancer Clinic in Durham NC.  The FAA has a three year waiting period before anyone with lung cancer can apply for resinstatement.

Unique features of my IVP:

The Continental TSIO-550E-1B is FADEC controlled.  Engine and FADEC controls were installed by Teledyne Continental Motors(TCM) Factory.  The intial test flight and  40 hour fly off time were flown by TCM's test pilot, Phillip Grice. The aircraft has been flown to 25,000 feet with all systems working as designed the first time up.

The 4 Blade MT Prop has been balanced. The engine is registered in TCM's Top Care Program.

All contol linkages have firewall pressure-sealed bearings, rather than rubber boots.

The Air Conditioning unit has both pilot and co-pilot front seat outlets.

Instrument Panel was professionally built by Aerotronics in Billings, Mt.  The panel consist of: Two Chelton Flight System (Sierra Flight System) Screens with current STC specifications, Garmin Center stack with a 430 GPS, Crossbow AHARS, Storm Scope, Back up Electrical gauges, Stand-by Alternator, Both Engine and Instrument Back Up Batteries, TruTrak Digital Autopilot, Bose Headset.

Speed brakes and Winglets. Extended Fuel Capacity. Lancair Builder Assist Program Used. Fast Build with Carbon Cowl, Factory manufacturer pre-hung door.

The Builder has both an Electrical Engineering Degree and a Master's in Dentistry with the IVP being his third project.

Plane is painted all white and ready for striping.  Upholstery by a Gulfstream Jet Sub-Contractor is scheduled for September.

The airplane can be seen presently at TCM's Factory in Mobile, Alabama or later at its home-base hangar on Hilton Head Island, SC. For more information or photographs, please e mail me directly at: hickham@hargray.com
