Use a little grease instead and it will go for years without relubing So far I've done it twice in seven years.

Cam-over latch fuel caps need frequent lubrication. I have been using
a
little LPS#1 on both the shaft and behind the large O Ring. It makes
a
world of difference in how well they seal and operate.<<<
