From: An Avemco Insuree
Gee, it is really comforting to know that Avemco is going to make every effort
to not pay up if I have a claim and my paperwork is less than 100% perfect.
Now, what did I change since the FAA certification? What about the different
valve stem caps I put on my tires? Or maybe the sun shades I put in the
cockpit. Or maybe....
My question is---did the guy retrofitting the original fuel system back into
the aircraft cause the resulting crash?
No one has said this. If the crash was caused by some other reason, and
Avemco did a paperwork examination to find some non-causal item to weasle out
of their responsibility, shame on them.
If, however, he had made the fuel change, screwed it up, didnt get it
inspected, and IT caused the crash, shame on him, not Avemco.
Since Avemco has shown much reluctance to insure Lancairs, this may be the
final blow to their doing so. Myself, I will be doing much soul-searching
before I renew my policy with them. Perhaps they are just as happy......
Name withheld to protect the insuree....
