Well, I fired up the IO-320-D1B that has been pickled for 13 years since
factory new and it ran GREAT!  I expected to have to fuss with it a bit
to get it running well but it fired up after about 6 blades passed and
ran smoothly from the start.  No fuel, oil or exhaust leaks.

That was Friday afternoon.  This morning I also passed my FAA
inspection.  The DAR I used (Terry Edwards out of Boulder, CO) was
extremely thorough and very friendly.  He found not significant issues
and had some good advice on increasing longevity of various components.
I am now the proud owner of an airworthiness certificate!!

Next is button it all back up and do some high-speed taxi tests and
breaking in the brakes.  Then, Orin Riddell comes out for Colorado for
first flight on Tuesday, July 22nd.  After pulling many late nights the
past 2 weeks I am going to sleep well tonight :)

Thanks to all of you on the list for your support and answers to my
questions.  I will soon join the ranks of those who are always 99% done
but are now flying.

Regards,

Dan Olsen
