Concerning testing with low battery voltage, low voltage will kill many solid state devices. I understand that this is the main reason for an "avionics" switch.... so the starter will not drag the bus voltage down so low that the transients will damage the electronics.
The point being... that if you plan on testing battery duration, be careful of your electronics or you may end up not having any. : - (
