Subject: Undersized Crankshaft for O-320?

To all A&P's and AI's,

I just talked to my engine repairman. My crank has a crack around the flange.

The repairman ca immediately obtain a crankshaft for the O-320 that is undersized by 3/1000. We don't know yet exactly how long it would take to get a new crank. The engine was factory new 750 hours ago. The cost of the used crank is about $2,500. The cost of a new crank is about $3,500. I appreciate any suggestions as to what I should do.

I will be happy to listen to all recommendations.
