If you try to start and don't; the bendix remains extended.  After a start it will retract. It should be retracted then when you stop the engine. This is a normal situation.

Subject: [LML] starter not disengaging

I started my 320 for the first time last week and ran it for 15 minutes or so (much rejoicing).  This week when I tried to start it the starter gear was stuck out in the engaged position and won’t retract. Have any of you had this problem before?

Thanks, Scott
