I seem to remember that the length is what is called for in the blueprint. The important thing is to really stiffen up the door so that it cannot twist under aerodynamic load. I will measure the length of the slider when I get out of the deep freeze here in Dallas. My doors are more beefy (and heavier) than ones I have seen at Oskosh-- but IMHO, if you are going to have a problem getting your gear to come down, one major problem will be the gear door operation.
