Scott,

3.5" works fine on my 320 panel. I made a totally new fiberglass frame. For
the left side I used a .093 6061TšAl sheet with no internal structures. For
the right side - EPI800 indicators - I used .063 6061T. The right side also
has enough space to CB, switches, a CD player and a glove box. See pictures.

o  What have you used for minimum instrument spacing for the
     3 1/8" instruments?  I'm planning on 3.5" center-to-center
spacing in 0.063 sheet (it's for a 235 so I'm trying to cram
it all in).  Is this too close?

o  What type of structure have you used behind the panel to
provide it structure and tie it to the airframe?  I'm
envisioning 3/4" Al angle around all of the outside edges
tied to the central radio stack.   Any pictures of an aluminum
panel taken from the front (header tank side) would be very
     helpful.
