Earl, I second what you wrote.  I started my kit in the spring of 1989.  I
thought the manuals were clear, but maybe not perfect.  With study and help
from a mentor (Bob Sinclair in my case), a few calls to Pat at Lancair I got
rolling.  Common sense helps.  The support from Lancair was outstanding, and
still is.  I got my airplane done, it is light, straight and structurally
sound and goes fast.  I love it and I'm proud of it and Lance and Lancair
for making this thing possible.

So much has been said about 'poor' constructions manuals over the years.
I received my kit in the Spring of  1988 so I assume my manual was one of
the earlier versions.  I did bend the ear of Ross and Don at Oshkosh and
Sun n Fun but I did not call the factory once for advice or guidance.
(Most of the discussions with Ross & Don were about some mods I intended
to make)   Sometimes when I read about all the phone calls, I wonder if I
really screwed up somewhere and should ground my aircraft.....

In fact, after reading the manual at the Oshkosh booth in 1987, I decided
that I could in fact build this aircraft.  I had previously narrowed it
down to Lancair vs Glassair.  Plus the Lancair folks seemed much more
friendly when I walked up to their booth.  Thanks, Linda!
