During flight, main links hold up their weight, nose holds up its weight on
a longer arm plus force of gas spring.  Am I overy cautious?

Improperly executed (or uncompensated) crosswind landings at 80 mph and 30
mph turns off the runway produce tremendous loads on the main gear. Without
any calculations, I'm certain that main gear overcenter link loads are MUCH
greater than the small load on the nose gear link!
(not that any Lancair pilots would ever do those things!)
