I don't think anyone did.  If they did, it = was an=20 O-200 or O-235 engine, a short prop, no interior finish, minimal = avionics=20 and instruments, no gadgets, very minimal paint, no electric = aileron trim,=20 no strobe or navigation lights, and no ELT.  = (advantages:  less=20 stuff to go bad)
 
In the very early building stages (way before = fast build=20 options), the factory downgraded the builders degree of main spar = closeout, as=20 it was deemed unnecessary.
