you must be able to identify the IAF... I've seen more
that require an ADF

but there are some that require DME

so if you want to go down this road, an ADF
would open more ILSs for you, but a better
way to go is an IFR GPS. maybe the cheaper
enroute / terminal will be good enough
as a replacement to the ADF / DME requirement.

A beep beep at the MM is nice but no plates
require it... in the old days you could get
an extra 50 feet lower, but now you can
do the same once you see the PAPIs
