I drilled a hole further down the leg of the step and attached the spring down there with a screw in order to give it a better moment. This, along with regular cleaning and lube, works well enough that I can pretty much depend on getting a good extension at 140kts where I often hang the gear out. Ken Lanham N144L, 'Windwalker'
