Rob,
Unfortunately it is not a $29 tool. Best way to check the entire
frequency spectrum of interest is with an antenna analyzer such as the
MFJ 269. I own the predecessor, the 259, and it has been very useful in
optimizing and troubleshooting antenna installations. These units
connect right to the end of the coax where your radio would be. Another
alterative is to use a SWR/Wattmeter and measure the power transmitted
and reflected. This requires a functioning radio to supply the power
and the passive meter is plugged in in-line. Some units will calculate
the VSWR for you. The drawback with these units is that you are looking
at only one frequency at a time. Ham radio stores sell this kind of
equipment. http://www.mfjenterprises.com/products.php?prodid=MFJ-269
