I purchased Lancair soundproof package for my IVP.  It is bulky and heavy.  One of our local EAA chapter members works for EAR which specializes in aircraft interior noise control.  Gulfstream is one of their local customers.  After examining Lancair's soundproofing package he was amazed that we were putting such a low grade material in such a high end aircraft.  What I showed him was the same material that EAR would have recommended for an 18 wheeler cabin.

Beside weight and bulk, fireproofing is the big issue.  The glue that is used to attach the material seems to be the main culprit.  EAR's material is fire resistant and is FAA approved.  It is beautiful stuff with an aluminum foil backing.  EAR has a package that is designed specifically for the Lancair IV.  The cost is around $1,000.  If interested, contact Frank Mercer at 843-705-7073 or e mail at Sosalesfjm@juno.com.
