It is bulky and = heavy. One of our local EAA chapter members works for EAR which = specializes in aircraft interior noise control. Gulfstream is one of = their local customers. After examining Lancair's soundproofing package = he was amazed that we were putting such a low grade material in such a = high end aircraft. What I showed him was the same material that EAR = would have recommended for an 18 wheeler cabin. Beside weight and bulk, fireproofing is the big issue. The glue that is = used to attach the material seems to be the main culprit. EAR's = material is fire resistant and is FAA approved. It is beautiful stuff = with an aluminum foil backing.
