Rick,

I do not know how long these batteries last.  Here is an idea.  I purchased a small offshore cheapy battery charger from somewhere!!!   Maybe Harbor Freight. Very small about 2x2 x.75 inches which puts about 150ma into the battery.  The idea is to keep the battery topped off while in storage.  It is my understanding that batteries decline in power as they sit on the shelf.  I connect it to the exhaust pipe clamp and an external power connector installed on the firewall right side low with a battery cable attached to a arc welder female plug connector.  I carry the male stinger end of the  welder connector in the plane and plug it into the female receptacle when needed.  This serves as a connector for a jumper cable if needed. Else the female connector is protected from shorting out.  Just plug in the connector, attach the charger and the battery stays topped off whil you are away and the plane plays hanger queen.

Interesting, I too am starting today on my third annual.
