In my ES I have an almost all electric panel.
Everything electric except the AI. That runs of a
vacuum pump. If I were to do it again, I'd replace the
vacuum pump with an alternator and wire it to an
electric AI via a fuse and an ammeter. The ammeter
would take the place of the vacuum gauge and the fuse
would be behind the panel somwhere. No circuit breaker
as they are not as reliable as fuses (Uh Oh I can
smell a debate looming). The rest of my panel is
currently fed from two busses, which can be isolated
one from the other. The one buss has all the non
essential stuff hooked up to it (Stereo, foot
massager, etc.) The other buss has the essential stuff
hooked up to it (GPS, coffee maker, etc.) The idea is
that if/when the main alternator goes TU, a mere flick
of a switch will disengage the current sucking
non-essentials and give me enough time to use the GPS
to seek a nearby alternative while putting on a fresh
brew.

DISCLAIMER. My plane isn't flying yet so none of the
above is based on any real world experiences.
