There are several possibilities, the the most likely is that you installed the pressure switch from Lancair without adjusting it. If it came set for around 1000 psi, it is not enough. It seems to take 1200 psi to overcome some points such as retracting the nose gear against the gas strut. It definitely takes the 1200 psi to finish locking everything up. Try turning in the set screw a bit (under wax between the spade terminals) and see if you get further.
If the system leaked, once up, the gear would soon sag down or cause the pump to cycle on to keep the pressure.
