Some of us finished our 235/320/360 wings before the "capstrip" technology
came into existence. There is no doubt that capstrips can make for a
stronger bond than the approximately 5/8 inch flox-fit Hysol bond (the older
airplanes, like mine, used a 3-M fuel-proof structural bonding agent).
However, my airplane doesn't leak fuel and hasn't come apart yet in spite of
the abuse I've heaped on her. Joint preparation and cleanliness are the most
important factors regardless of the close-out technique.
