The expiration dates on Epoxies and Catalysts (Hardeners) need some explanation.
If you have already received a large amount of materials, storage in a refrigerator or freezer until use will prolong their usefullness. Do not store with food. Allow the materials to come to room temperature before use. Do not open containers until room temp to avoid moisture condensation.
The epoxies themselves are stable for years-the catalysts are the time-limited parts. If you smell ammonia coming from your Hysol hardener, and it is turning a weird color, it is degrading. For non-structural applications, you can simply use a little more of the hardener to make up for the degradation.
When we saw degradation of the hardener, we simply ordered more without ordering the epoxy, which was in great shape-saved us lots of money.
