Should I worry about this? If so, any suggestions about how to > correct it? I spent a lot of time getting a uniform gap (with enough room for paint) between the trailing edge of the horiz stab and leading edge of the elevators using only the two outboard hinges. When I attached the bellcrank/center hinge weldment to the left elevator it threw off the gap about 1/16". The fix was to elongate the two bolt holes in the weldment at the inboard rib attachment and weld on machined flat washers to set the new hole locations. No big deal. When I next attached the right elevator and bolted up the left and right weldments at the center hinge the gap was OK, but the trailing edges of the two elevators were 3/8" to 1/2" off when checked with a water level. (The horiz stab had been pre-leveled with the water level.) This seems like a lot, and more than the above realignment would have caused. Same fix as above. I assumed the hinges on the horizonal stab were straight since sighting thru them looked like a rifle bore, wrong! Using centering pins in both outboard hinges with holes just large enough for mono filiment fishing line I determined the inboard hinges next to the center hinge on both sides are about 1/32 to 1/16" off. This is what started the problem and the misalignments stack up from there.
